Volunteer for TriState Habitat for Humanity
TriState Habitat for Humanity is a volunteer-driven organization. We welcome people from all walks of life to join us as we build simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with God and families in need. Though the vast majority of volunteers have no construction experience or building skills, volunteers are involved in most phases of construction. By working side-by-side with the family who will live in the house, our volunteers experience for themselves the joy created when a family is able to realize their dream of home ownership.
Volunteer opportunities
We are always looking for new volunteers who are willing to spend time with us in the following areas:

FAQs
The majority of Habitat's volunteers donate their time on the construction site, building homes alongside our partner families and construction staff on Saturdays. No experience is necessary to volunteer with Habitat - we are a teaching organization! Tasks include framing, roofing, painting, landscaping and installing siding, windows, doors and insulation. Our work days begin at 8:00 a.m. and end around 3:00 p.m.
How do I sign-up?
Volunteers can register to serve by signing up with our new on-line software, Volunteer Hub. Volunteer
Hub will allow you to self-register for build days and other volunteer events. *Groups interested in
volunteering need to contact the office directly to registered with TriState Habitat. (Groups consist of
6 or more people affiliated with the same organization.)
What is my commitment?
The commitment is up to you! You may work one time or as many as you wish. You may come as a part
of a group, and then decide that you would like to continue volunteering as an individual. We are
delighted to work with you to fit your needs and schedule.
What skills are required?
No specific skills are needed, just a willingness to learn and a positive attitude. TriState Habitat provides
an experienced site leader on each work site who will provide on-the-job training. Safety is important to
us and therefore we provide free on-line safety training courses for those interested. Click here for
more information.
What do I need to bring?
No tools are necessary, but if you have them you are encouraged to bring basics, such as a hammer, nail
apron, tape measure, utility knife and a pencil. Please clearly label all of your tools with your name or
initials. When required we will provide hard hats and safety goggles. Water will be available, but you
may wish to bring your own supply. It's always a good idea to wear a hat and sunscreen when working
outdoors. Lunch is provided for volunteers who work a full day. All volunteers are required to fill out the
waiver and emergency medical form. You can find those on our website.
What do I wear?
Footwear needs to be sturdy and closed-toe and closed-heel. Boots or sneakers are both considered
appropriate footwear. Please prepare for the weather by checking the forecast before you arrive at the
work site. If it is sunny, please bring a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses. If it is raining, please bring a jacket,
raincoat, and/or rain boots.
What will happen when I arrive at the site?
At the beginning of each workday, a Habitat site supervisor will begin the morning with a prayer,
introductions, a safety talk and instructions. The group will then break into crews to work on the
various building tasks.
How do I cancel my and/or group volunteer date?
Log-in to your user account on Volunteer Hub and scroll down until you see the "Your Events" box.
In that box you will see a button that says "cancel". Select cancel, then next, and then a screen will
appear asking you to modify or cancel your registration. Select the cancel registration option, then next.
Finally you will select finish and your cancelation will be complete. An e-mail confirming your
cancelation will be sent to the address you registered with.
Groups that wish to cancel their volunteer day should contact the office directly!

Global Missions (El Salvador)
TriState Habitat for Humanity will be sending project work teams to El Salvador each year. This is to continue our ongoing partnership with Habitat for Humanity El Salvador. Since 1987, TriState Habitat for Humanity has been helping to financially support the efforts of Habitat for Humanity in El Salvador and as a result have helped provide homes for more than 300 families! February 2011 will launch our efforts to help “hands on” in what we hope to be an annual effort. For more information contact Natalie Nuce
